ABOUT ME:

Hi! My name is Sarah, and I am a marketing and social media-trained, design-driven, food-forward, writer, creator, entrepreneur, and Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.

My career path has been far from linear. From humble beginnings as a digital marketing intern at (RED), to an interesting stint in entertainment, producer of social trending videos at Refinery29, social media and experiential marketing manager at Parachute Home, and finally a year in the celebrity interior design world—I am grateful to say I learned just as much about what I don’t want in a career as what I do (equally powerful).

During my quarantine existential crisis (a rite of passage, some might say), I completed an Integrative Health Coach Certification at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). Health has been a priority in my life since college, so it felt like an appropriate time to put that passion on paper. After graduating from IIN, I put professional health pursuits on pause to explore interior design. I loved my design experience, but in the back of my mind I knew health was an area I could add real value.

In January 2023, I launched my Health Coaching business and began coaching clients 1:1. Since then, I have been recognized as a Top Health Coach by CoachFoundation, one of the biggest names in the coaching industry. Learn more about my practice, and book a free initial Health History Consultation.

WHY HEALTH?

“Health” has been a big part of my life since childhood. Early on, my health-conscious mother tolerated much protesting and rebellion that ultimately swung the pendulum back to where I am today. Growing up under a strict regime of Ezekiel bread, Teddy peanut butter, Newman O’s, and “Tofutti cuties” (iykyk)—a sad era before health food was anywhere close to trendy— instilled a determination for Pringles, Lunchables, Uncrustables, and other forbidden garbage only found in the middle aisles of the grocery store. Suffice to say I learned my lesson in high school, quick to pay the price and realize my Mom had been right the whole time (I’ll only say it once).

ABOUT THE WEBSITE:

Since conception in a 2017 “Web Mastery for Journalists” class to the iteration you see today, I created this resource to share my solutions to an oversaturated, overwhelming world of options. As someone plagued by analysis paralysis, I’ve forever been in search of curated, trusted sources to distill the onslaught of information available to us. In an influencer-driven culture where everyone is an entrepreneur, every recommendation is sponsored, and life feels like a competition for the best of everything—sifting through the noise and making a decision can be confusing.

This cultural conundrum spans travel, food, and health most prominently—all areas I am personally passionate about, but have spent countless hours agonizing over. What is the best place for cold brew in the West Village? Is cold brew even better than iced coffee? What’s the most authentic bistro in Paris if you’re only there for 24 hours? Should I make Half Baked Harvest’s “best paleo chocolate chunk cookies”, “grain free pb chocolate chunk cookies”, or “the best gf chocolate chip cookies ever”? WTF is the difference? Should I eat traditional foods like meat and real dairy, grains, or plant-based?

If you identify with the headspace behind any of these questions, I can help. We are constantly running against the clock, with too many choices and not enough trusted recommendations, hoping to make the right decision in the short time we have.

Everyone has a point of view, and I’m not here to claim I know best; however, I am here to offer simplicity. Expect high-level, condensed options (“if you like this, do this”) extracted from first hand experience. If I haven’t been somewhere or don’t have my own experience to draw from, I consult a very small, trusted network of like-minded individuals with valuable information to share.

This information isn’t available anywhere else (obviously). If you trust me (and my network), even just a little bit, you will find value here.

This is not about striving for perfection. There are truly endless options out there that will result in a positive experience. I want to offer one way, one avenue, to success. I want to streamline the decision-making process, clarify misconceptions, and extract value from an information-overloaded world. I want to save you time by doing the work for you.

WHERE CAN I FIND NEW CONTENT NOW?

In August 2023, I transitioned the blog content of this website to a new and exciting Substack newsletter called Anti-Spam! Posts previously available here will remain in their original form, but the full archive including updated versions and new content will be available exclusively on Substack to paid subscribers for $6/month.

WHAT IS ANTI-SPAM?

[anti-spam]:

  1. Trademark: opposition to Spam, a brand of salty processed canned pork formed into a solid block.

  2. Noun: the opposite of unsolicited junk email, i.e. a high-quality email or newsletter.

In other words, this is a cut-to-the-chase newsletter that tells it like it is, skips over the bullshit to find solutions, and exposes ultra-processed, industrialized food and toxic chemicals that contribute to sickness, disease, and early death.

As an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I wanted to offer resources for people who (1) aren’t ready or able to work with a coach but are in dire need of health information, or (2) are living cluelessly about how their daily habits are affecting their health.

Subscribe to Anti-Spam to have new content delivered straight to your inbox. Expect weekly recipes, health 101s, distilled recommendations, personal reviews of health tech and devices, everyday hacks, travel black books, healthy(ish) guides in your favorite cities, and more (but not that much more, don’t worry). It’s anti-spam.

WHY IS IT PAID NOW?

I love sharing what I know about health. Everyone deserves to make informed choices, and knowledge is power. But creating meaningful resources takes time and energy, which is why I’ve made the decision to transition the newsletter from a free offering on this website to one that provides a modest source of income. If you value my content, I would greatly appreciate your paid support so I can continue providing vital health information to my friends, family, network, and larger community. For more information on what to expect as a paid subscriber to Anti-Spam, check out my About page.

Lastly, I want to know what you want to see! Tell me what you think is missing, what you hope to see here, and how I can help refine your world. I am here to qualm your—and my—decision-making anxiety in a society bombarded with what feels like hundreds of competing winter kale salads, vitamin c serums, diets, and places to get brunch.

The adventure continues…
