Circle of Life Diagram of Primary Food

Welcome! I am excited that you’re here and interested in potentially working on your health together.

WHAT IS HEALTH COACHING? I define it as the practice of partnering with clients to guide them on individual wellness transformations. By offering them the tools to understand their unique health blueprint, they are able to get to the root cause of their symptoms, implement positive lifestyle changes, adopt preventative behaviors, stay accountable, build self-awareness, set affective and achievable goals, feel empowered, identify perceived barriers, explore areas of life that might be out of balance, and create long-term behavior change.

My coaching style is holistic in the sense that I focus on the whole person. While nutrition and food is fundamental, it is not the only factor at play in health. How we nourish ourselves off the plate - in areas such as career, education, relationships, and more - is equally if not more important than the food on our plate. My goal is to act as a partner in my clients' individual wellness transformations, guiding them towards discovering the lifestyle and nutritional modifications that switch their "healthy" genes on and their "unhealthy" genes off. There is no one-size-fits-all model; many avenues to health exist, and what works for one client may not work for another. I help my clients decipher their symptoms through the lens of a holistic and personalized approach to healing that is flexible, realistic, and approachable.

To build a healthy, long life, feel good, and continue to perform at the same level for as long as possible, we can no longer be careless about our bodies. These vessels that carry us through life are pretty important. Our genes are not our destiny; through daily habits and behaviors, we have the power to change how our DNA is expressed, in turn preventing disease, rewiring our brain, breaking old habits, and transforming our quality (and quantity) of life. “Health is wealth” has never been more true; you can have all the money in the world, but without your health to enjoy it, you have nothing.

A LITTLE BACKGROUND—In March 2021, I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), successfully earning a Health Coach Certification. After graduation, I did not launch my coaching business immediately. I had always faced conflicted feelings about being defined by “wellness”—a space that isn’t without its flaws. Diploma in hand, I still asked myself, by focusing on our health, does that mean we miss out on something essential in life? In this culture, we are constantly made to feel like working on ourselves is a way of rejecting others, our lives, and the status quo. We “care too much”, are “too rigid”, aren’t “living life”. Where is the line between enjoying our life and overdoing it to the extreme on weekends (with food, alcohol, etc.) in a misguided attempt to exercise freedom? The former is a noble goal, but the latter just leads to yo-yo dieting, restriction, and shame.

It is healthy to have boundaries; valiant even, to know what works for you and to stick to it, no matter the circumstances. Only then can we begin to trust the promises we make to ourselves. There are no “cheat days” from a well-built life. We need to learn to listen to our bodies and ourselves so we can do what feels right for us (and this will be different for everyone) without cravings or fear of judgment.

The power of positive lifestyle change, increased longevity, disease prevention, and physical and mental optimization isn’t something to be feared—far from it. Most people don’t realize how much of life they’re missing out on until they actually start feeling good. Our physical bodies are all we have, and they are the vehicle for us to properly get the most out of our lives. The idea that we should prioritize keeping them healthy is not a crazy concept.

In January 2023, I launched my business and began coaching clients 1:1. Since then, I have been recognized as a Top Health Coach by CoachFoundation, one of the biggest names in the coaching industry.

WHAT DO I OFFER CLIENTS? A wealth of information and resources, personalized recommendations, accountability, a formula for setting affective and achievable goals, and a holistic system for reaching those goals that takes all aspects of life into account. Like a personal trainer or any other type of coach, health coaches similarly offer support, empowerment, accountability, advice based on your unique body/situation, a formula for a better quality of life, and the space for clients to build self-awareness, come to their own conclusions, and take ownership for their health.

Health information today can be confusing, contradictory, and overwhelming—yet, without our health, we have nothing. Most people just don’t know where to start. They don’t know why they’re so tired, or they’re experiencing symptoms that don’t make sense. The goal is to make “health” work for you daily, whatever that looks like. Health coaching is a relationship, not a prescription.

You don’t have to be sick to work with a health coach—quite the contrary. Unfortunately, the model of healthcare in the US does not focus on prevention. What we call “health care” is really “sick-care”—a system that benefits from last-resort interventions, overmedicating to mask symptoms rather than finding the root cause, and only addressing issues when quality of life is so low that they cannot be ignored. This is not a system set up for success—it is one that makes money off people getting sicker and sicker. Instead of supporting health from an early age so that problems don’t occur later, we’ve been conditioned to ignore red flags and warning signs, slapping a Band-Aid on the problem and getting back to work.

Figuring out my “formula” for health transformed my life. I hope to support you in doing the same.
